Dr. Avani Khera, a board certified Diplomate to the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, completed a B.S. in Biology at the University of California, Irvine, graduating with honors. She subsequently attended the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Dental Medicine, graduating in 2010. Upon graduation, Dr. Khera joined the National Health Service Corp for three years, practicing general dentistry and building a pediatric patient base at a community health center in Worcester, Massachusetts. She has enjoyed working with a highly diverse patient population to increase oral health awareness, dental health literacy, and providing restorative care. She has served as the lead dentist for three distinct school-based programs, Dental Director of the UMass Memorial Care mobile program, and clinical instructor to residents of Lutheran’s AEGD training program.
Eager to obtain additional formal training, Dr. Khera completed an additional two years of training in pediatric dentistry at the NYU-Lutheran Pediatric Dentistry Specialty Program in Providence, RI. During this time, Dr. Khera was awarded with the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry 2015 Residents Recognition Award for her commitment to community service and education.
She is currently a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association, and the Massachusetts Dental Society. In addition, Dr. Khera serves as clinical faculty for pediatric dental residents at Boston University. Outside of dentistry, her interests include traveling, cooking, and spending time with her family. She currently resides with her husband and daughter in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
